🥟🍜 Asian-Style Dumpling Dim Sum Lasagna

A viral-worthy fusion bake using wonton wrappers as noodles — savory, cozy, and perfect for sharing.

This comforting casserole layers tender wonton wrappers with deeply seasoned, browned pork, a creamy coconut-based sauce, and melty cheese for an Asian-inspired twist on classic lasagna. Rich, savory, and packed with umami — no sweetness needed.

Ingredients

Wonton “Noodles”

  • 1 package store-bought wonton wrappers

Pork Filling

  • 1½ lbs ground pork (or ground chicken)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced

Creamy Sauce (No Miso, No Sugar)

  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 1½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

Cheese Layer

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or fontina

For Finishing

  • Chili crisp or chili oil
  • Sliced scallions

Instructions

1. Brown the pork

In a bowl, combine the ground pork, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and green onions.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork mixture and cook, breaking it up, until fully cooked and lightly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

2. Make the creamy sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the coconut milk, cream cheese, soy sauce, and rice vinegar until smooth.

3. Assemble the lasagna

Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Spread a thin layer of creamy sauce on the bottom of the dish.

Quickly dip each wonton wrapper into a shallow dish of water (just a second or two — no soaking), then layer them in the baking dish, slightly overlapping.

Spoon an even layer of browned pork over the wrappers, drizzle with sauce, and sprinkle with cheese.

Repeat layers 3–4 times, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.

4. Bake

Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10–15 minutes, until bubbly and lightly golden.

5. Rest & serve

Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Finish with chili crisp and sliced scallions. I serve with Elevated Jasmine Rice (See recipe)

Notes & Tips

  • One package of wonton wrappers is plenty for a full 9×13-inch dish.
  • Lightly dipping the wrappers in water helps them soften and bake up tender without tearing.
  • This dish slices best after resting and reheats beautifully.
