Ingredients
Shrimp
- 1½–2 lbs large precooked shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
- 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning (for the soak)
- ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning (for finishing, or to taste)
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1–2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil (light drizzle)
- Cold water
Cocktail Sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp prepared horseradish (more or less to taste)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of hot sauce (optional)
For Serving
- Lemon wedges
Instructions
Shrimp
- Refresh the shrimp
Place shrimp in a large bowl. Add cold water just to cover. Stir in Old Bay and lemon slices. - Brief soak
Let shrimp sit for 2–3 minutes to freshen and lightly infuse with flavor. - Drain & dry
Drain shrimp well and pat completely dry with paper towels. - Finish
Transfer shrimp to a serving platter. Sprinkle with lemon zest and a light dusting of Old Bay, then drizzle lightly with extra-virgin olive oil. Toss gently to coat.
Cocktail Sauce
- Mix sauce
In a small bowl, stir together ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce if using. Chill until ready to serve.
Serve
Arrange shrimp on a platter with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce. Keep chilled until serving.
